We had our fingers crossed all week. The rain had been pouring down for days. And not just any rain. The dark, gloomy, cold, depressing rain that only December can bring. But on the morning of her wedding, Anna Claire woke bright and early to cloudless skies and warm sun. She began her day at Heartwood Hall with mimosas and laughter, as the girls all prepared for the events ahead. Both the main house and the barn, where the ceremony would be held, were decorated for Christmas. Lights glittered everywhere, but nothing was as bright or as beautiful as Anna Claire. Today, she simply glowed. Today, there was no rain. Today, she would walk down the isle and marry her best friend.
In the old slave quarters behind the large plantation house, Dustin was also getting ready for the big day. He laughed with his closest friends as they teased him. They made philosophical references to Cal Ripkin as they looked forward to the future. But the only future Dustin was looking forward to was the one with Anna Claire. The future, just hours away, when she would become his wife. The honeymoon in Jamaica, where he would have her all to himself. And the lifetime after, that he would always spend with her.
It was a gorgeous sunny day when we arrived at Heartwood Hall, and Anna Claire greeted us from the balcony.
Anna Claire’s dress could not have been more perfect for her, and her long lace-trimmed veil was so gorgeous!
Heartwood Hall has the best suites and window light for bridal preparations!
Anna Claire, you are one beautiful bride.
These “Mississippi boys” were so much fun, and kept Dustin relaxed and entertained.
And the girls were all gorgeous. Naturally.
I couldn’t resist a few bridal portraits in the amazing December light. This was my view…
And this was Ed’s. Wow.
The ceremony was held in the beautifully decorated barn. It was the perfect setting for their vows.
Afterward, we had just a few minutes of sunset left for some portraits. I love taking photos right after a wedding ceremony, because the bride and groom are so genuinely happy!
The property was perfect for Anna Claire and Dustin – rustic yet beautiful. Ed’s photo on the left.
Anna Claire, you are beautiful. And you know I love that nose scrunch!!
The reception had a beautiful, country Christmas feel, and I loved Anna Claire’s use of pinecones and burlap!
The First Dance…
Anna Claire and Dustin danced the night away, and left under a storm of bubbles and hugs from loved ones.
Anna Claire and Dustin, thank you for allowing us to spend this special day with you and capture your wedding memories. Your wedding day was beautiful, just like the two of you. I hope the weather in Jamaica is sunnier and warmer than it is here, as you start your new life together!
